Brunch Book Club Special Event: That’s What She Said

  • Utter Waffle 2 Hildreth Street London, England, SW12 9RQ United Kingdom (map)

We’re so excited to invite you to a very special Brunch Book Club event celebrating the release of That’s What She Said, the witty, bold, and emotionally honest debut novel by Eleanor Pilcher.

This one-off brunch will be a more intimate gathering than usual, with just 12 guests coming together for a delicious afternoon of waffles, bottomless options, and brilliant conversation. If you’ve ever wanted to talk openly about friendship, identity, and the sometimes-messy journey toward self-discovery, this one’s for you. Expect laughter, honesty, and the kind of discussion that reminds you why we love reading together in the first place.

Why this event is special:
This brunch will be a smaller, more intimate affair than our usual monthly events, with space for just 12 guests. We’ll enjoy a delicious afternoon and an open conversation in person about the book’s themes. Unlike our regular monthly events, our discussion will be held in person over brunch. Questions will be provided.

See you at brunch! 🥂📚🥑

Preorder & Prepayment Policy:
To confirm your spot, we require a full preorder and prepayment one week before the event. A preorder form will be sent by email two weeks ahead. If we don’t receive your order and payment by the deadline, your ticket will be forfeited.

👉 Please add admin@brunchbookclub.com to your contacts and check spam folders to avoid missing any event emails.

For those with a sweet tooth - fret not, we’re also the proud winners of The Best Dessert in the UK (British Street Food Awards).

We pride ourselves on a super-inclusive menu. Co-owned by a coeliac, we are allergy specialists with 99% of our menu being suitable for coeliacs; plus we boast loads of vegetarian and vegan options too…really something for everybody!”

That’s What She Said by Eleanor Pilcher

Eleanor Pilcher is electric in her witty, funny, and heartfelt women’s fiction debut, following polar opposite best friends Beth and Serena. When demisexual Beth decides she’s done with being a virgin and enlists Serena’s help, her new personal journey just might be the thing to end their friendship for good.

Serena and Beth are best friends who couldn’t be more different — Beth is an avowed demisexual, who lacks confidence in her career and in her chances at a happy relationship due to her sexual orientation. Serena is a free spirit who oozes with confidence, both in her job and her sexual proclivities. And yet, since the moment they met, they knew they were platonic soulmates.

So, when Beth decides that she officially wants to take charge of her sex life and explore the things that scare her the most, Serena is more than happy to help. Speed-dating, sex therapy, tantra, a perplexed but ultimately very nice escort — it’s all on Beth’s Sexual Odyssey List.

But when Beth’s crush from her old job comes back and Serena’s favorite friend-with-benefits pushes for more than just sex, it throws their whole world into a tailspin. And suddenly, this sexual odyssey is more than a fun gag. It’ll set them down a course that’ll make them so much closer — or end their friendship for good.
