January Brunch Book Club

  • Bondi Green 2 Canalside Walk London, England, W2 1DG United Kingdom (map)

New year. New chapter. Same fabulous book club.

We're starting 2027 as we mean to go on: with brilliant books, beautiful conversations and a bottomless brunch worth getting out of bed for.

Our first read of the year is The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, a moving, witty and wonderfully human novel told entirely through letters. It's a story about the connections we make, the words we leave unsaid and the extraordinary lives hidden in seemingly ordinary correspondence.

And where better to begin a new chapter than around a table with some excellent company?

Whether you're a familiar face or joining us for the first time, there's a seat waiting for you.

See you at brunch! 🥂📚🥑

Bondi Green, Paddington

From the pages to Paddington...

We're heading waterside for our first brunch of 2027 at Bondi Green, a gorgeous Australian-inspired restaurant overlooking the canal in Paddington Basin.

Think bright, contemporary interiors, a bustling open kitchen, a seriously impressive bar and a relaxed atmosphere made for long lunches and even longer conversations.

The menu brings a little Aussie sunshine to London, with creative brunch favourites, fresh ingredients and plenty of delicious options to accompany a glass (or three) of fizz.

With its canalside setting, vibrant energy and laid-back approach to dining, Bondi Green is just the place to settle in, catch up and make some new bookish besties.

Because January might be grey, but our brunch plans certainly aren't.

The Correspondent
by Virginia Evans

The Women's Prize for Fiction winner that has enthralled millions of readers, yours to treasure in a limited run deluxe clothbound edition.

In her letters to family and friends we come to know the life of Sybil Van Antwerp: stubborn, cantankerous, opinionated, always steadfast in her belief in the power of the written word.

But as the clock begins to tick for Sybil, the need for a few post-scripts to the life she’s led becomes apparent. Fixing her difficult relationship with her children. Taking a final chance at romance. Atoning for an old legal case which has come back to haunt her. And finally, reckoning with a devastating loss that she has spent the last thirty years holding close to her chest.

THE PLAN

10:30am–12:30pm | Online Book Discussion

We'll start with our guided online discussion, exploring the novel's unusual structure, Sybil's relationships and the stories we tell, both to others and ourselves.

Expect thoughtful questions, interesting perspectives and a few passionate disagreements. All part of the fun.

Afternoon | Bottomless Brunch at Bondi Green

Then we're swapping our screens for a seat at the table, bringing the conversation to Paddington for delicious food, flowing drinks and a proper afternoon with our favourite kind of people.

Come on your own, bring a friend or make a few new ones. We promise you won't be the only one arriving solo!
