September Brunch Book Club
We’re kicking off autumn with one of the most talked-about debuts of the year, Yesteryear!
A darkly funny, unsettling and razor-sharp exploration of womanhood, performance, trad-wife culture and the impossible expectations placed on women to create the “perfect” life.
Equal parts psychological spiral, social satire and feminist horror, Yesteryear asks urgent questions about identity, authenticity, motherhood, religion, fame and the roles women are expected to perform — both online and offline.
October Brunch Book Club
This October we’re heading to Blame Gloria Clapham Junction for The Names by Florence Knapp. Be prepared for a breathtaking and emotionally devastating novel that explores domestic abuse, identity, autonomy and the quiet moments that alter the course of a life forever.
We’ll be taking our butts to the hotspot that is Blame Gloria for an afternoon of club classics, cocktails, drag performances and deeply emotional literary discussion, which honestly feels like exactly the right energy for this book.
November Brunch Book Club
For our final Brunch Book Club of the year, we’re heading to one of our faves Scarlett Green in Soho. Much like our venue, our book is sure to be a firm favourite too! This month we'll be reading Heart the Lover by Lily King. This is her follow up to Writers and Lovers, which we also read for Brunch Book Club way back when!
Beautifully observed and emotionally devastating in that quietly precise Lily King way, Heart the Lover explores the stories we tell ourselves about love, who gets remembered, and whether forgiveness can truly rewrite the past. It's a wise, tender and emotionally rich novel about friendship, first love, ambition and the enduring power of the choices we make when we’re young.
June Brunch Book Club
On a farm choking with heat and secrets, two boys meet and a hidden bond forms. The South by Tash Aw is radiant, painful, longing. Join us for our online discussion then slip into Megan’s Old Town, Clapham. Fairy-lit ceilings, olive trees overhead, sharing plates and mimosas: the kind of brunch that feels like a day-off, even when it’s just midday.
